A Brief History of Men’s Bracelets

The history of men’s bracelets can be dated back to the Biblical times when bracelets and rings were considered as token of love and affection. According to the Bible, jewelry such as bracelets were often used as payment for services rendered.

One of these instances in the Bible that should be noted is written in the Book of Numbers 31:50. This is where God commanded Moses to attack and annihilate the Midianites. Moses sent 12,000 of his soldiers to do battle and by the end of the war all the Midianites were killed. None of Moses’ soldiers were killed. To pay special tribute to God, the soldiers gifted Moses bracelets manufactured in gold and silver together with other jewelry. At that time this jewelry was quite valuable, estimated at several hundreds of thousands of dollars.

It was in the United State in the 1950′s and 60′s that bracelets regained soaring popularity among men in the form of ID bracelets. In the 50’s when they were introduced into the market, a great number of male teenagers were driven crazy for them. Most people thought this was a teen fad but in the years to come these bracelets became popular with male adults.
In the late 60’s early 70’s, the craze for these ID bracelets witnessed a recession. It wasn’t until the late 90′s and into the next century that men’s bracelets became part of our culture once again. Men’s bracelets are available in various materials, including white and yellow 14K, 18K, 24K gold. Sterling silver bracelets are also quite hot among the adult male population. With men’s bracelets becoming more and more in demand the companies manufacturing these items have become more creative.
